The real reason

If OnlyFans made you almost nothing, that was not you. It was the pay model.

Subscription platforms pay you per follower. The platform takes a cut, you do all the marketing, and nobody sees your content unless you already have an audience. Most people never get past that wall. The problem was never your look or your work ethic. It was being paid like a marketer when you wanted to be paid like a performer.

Creator platforms

  • Paid per subscriber. No audience, no income
  • Platform keeps a cut of everything you earn
  • You shoot, edit, post, promote and answer DMs alone
  • Income swings every month and can hit zero
  • Nobody vets who is on the other side of the screen

Studio bookings

  • Flat rate per scene, agreed in writing before you shoot
  • Studio handles filming, editing and distribution
  • Paid after every shoot, no matter how the content performs
  • Every person on set is ID verified and tested
  • You walk in knowing the scene, the rate and the schedule
A studio pays for your time on set. A platform pays for your audience. If you do not have an audience yet, only one of those works.

Without someone in your corner.

The legal side

The paperwork protects you first.

  • Government ID check by a third party
  • Federal 2257 records kept, by law
  • Everyone on set tested before every shoot
  • Your limits written down. You can change them any time
One more thing

You will not do this alone.

One person, from the first call to the day you get paid. If you want to bring a friend to the first meeting, bring them.

The guide

How to become a pornstar in 2026: the 7 real steps

Short answer: to become a pornstar you must be 18+ with government ID, decide your limits, get a current STD panel, apply through a verified agency or recruiter, agree a written rate with a studio, protect your legal name with a stage name, and show up prepared. Studio scenes typically pay $2,000 to $5,000 each. There is no fee to apply and no experience or follower count required.

  1. Be 18 or older and able to prove it

Federal law (18 U.S.C. 2257) requires every performer to be a verified adult with records kept. You will show government ID before any shoot, every time. No legitimate studio or agent skips this step, and anyone who does is not legitimate.

  2. Decide what you will and will not do

Write your limits down before you talk to anyone: scene types, partners, anything off the table. Studios book around your list. You can change it at any time, including on set. A clear list gets you booked faster because producers know exactly what they are offering.

  3. Get a current STD panel

Every studio shoot requires a full panel, usually within 14 days of the shoot date, from an industry-recognised testing provider. Your first call covers where to test and who pays. Never shoot with anyone who cannot show you a current test.

  4. Apply through a vetted contact, not a DM

Most people who get burned found their first "producer" in their Instagram inbox. Apply through a known agency or recruiter, verify your ID with them, then take a call. You never send photos before your identity is verified, and never to a stranger.

  5. Take the call and get the deal in writing

One call covers rate, scene, studio, date and your limits. Then it goes in a message you can keep. Typical studio scenes pay $2,000 to $5,000 depending on the studio and the scene. Nothing is booked until you say yes to that written offer.

  6. Pick a stage name and protect your legal one

Your legal name is used only for ID verification, testing and payment paperwork, which stays private. Everything public uses your stage name. Set up separate email and social accounts before your first shoot.

  7. Show up prepared for your first shoot

Bring your ID and current test. Expect three to five hours on set with a crew, not a bedroom. You will walk through the scene with the director before cameras roll, and you can stop at any point. Payment follows the terms in your written deal.

Requirements to become a pornstar

  • Age: 18 or older, proven with government-issued ID. No exceptions anywhere in the United States.
  • Testing: a full STD panel current within about 14 days of each shoot.
  • Legal right to work in the United States, because you are paid and papered like any other contractor.
  • Not required: experience, a following, a specific look or body type, living in Los Angeles. Studios pay for your time on set, not your audience.

How much do pornstars make?

Studio performers are paid a flat rate per scene, not per view. The range we see offered is $2,000 to $5,000 per scene, set by the studio and the type of scene, and agreed in writing before you shoot. Subscription platforms work the other way: you earn only what your own audience pays, after the platform's cut, which is why most new creators make very little there. Rates vary and we never promise a number until a studio has put one in writing.

How to become a male pornstar

The steps are the same: 18+, ID, testing, written deal. The difference is demand. Studios book fewer male performers and expect reliability on set, so men are usually asked to come through a referral or a vetted recruiter rather than open casting. Tell us on the application that you are applying as a male performer and we will be direct about what is realistic.

How to get into porn without getting scammed

  • Nobody legitimate asks you for money, ever. Not for "portfolio shots", not for "registration", not for travel you have not agreed in writing.
  • Nobody legitimate asks for nude photos before your ID is verified through a real verification service.
  • Nobody legitimate books you for a "shoot" at a private home or hotel you were not told about in advance, with no studio name.
  • Every real offer has a studio name, a scene description, a rate, a date and a location in writing. If one of those is missing, walk.

The things that make this industry dangerous

What we will never ask you for

Nearly every bad story in this industry starts with one of these. If anyone claiming to be us does any of them, it is not us. Stop and report it.

Money. Not for "registration", photos, testing, or travel. You never pay us anything. Ever. The studio pays you.

Questions people ask before applying

Straight answers

How do I know this is not a scam?

Three things. We never ask you for money. We never ask for photos before your ID is verified. And you never meet anyone outside a studio location you are told about in advance. Any "agent" who breaks one of those rules is not us. Bring a friend to the first meeting if you want.

How much will I make?

Most scenes pay between $2,000 and $5,000 depending on the studio and the scene. You see the exact rate in writing before you agree to anything. Rates vary, and we do not promise a number until a studio has offered one.

Do I need experience or followers?

No. Studios pay for your time on set, not your audience. Many of the people we place start brand new. We walk you through every step before your first shoot.

Can I say no to a scene, a partner, or something on set?

Yes, always. Your limits are set on the first call, written down, and you can change them at any time, including once you are on set. Nobody is penalized for saying no.

Will people find out?

You work under a stage name. Your legal name is used only for ID verification, testing and payment paperwork, which is required by law and stays private. We cannot promise you will never be recognized in published content; that is a decision only you can make, and we would rather you make it with clear eyes.

Why do you verify my ID?

Federal law requires every performer to be a verified adult, with records kept. It protects you, the studio and us. Verification is done by a third-party service, not by us, and we do not store your ID images.

Who sees my photos?

Only the booking team, through a private link sent after you are verified. Never on this site. They are not shared with a studio until you have agreed to a specific booking.

How fast will I hear back?

You get a confirmation right away. If you are a fit, [NAME] calls you within [X] days to talk through next steps.

Do I pay for testing or travel?

[Confirm with client: who pays for the STD panel and travel. State it plainly here. If the applicant pays for testing, say so and say roughly how much.]

Know the rate, the room and the rules before you walk in. That is the whole difference.
